Bishop Kalabat began his philosophical studies in 1989 at the University of San Diego’s Saint Francis de Sales Center for Priestly Formation and completed his theological training at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. Ordained a priest on July 4, 1995, he served as director of vocations and parochial vicar at Mother of God Cathedral before becoming pastor of St. Thomas Church in West Bloomfield in 2001. He was ordained bishop and installed as eparch on June 14, 2014.
